Jay Ajayi in Need of a Big Day Against the Titans
Miami Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi was perhaps the most disappointed player on a team that couldn’t muster a single point last week in a loss to the Saints. In a homecoming for the UK native, Ajayi was held to 46 rushing yards on 12 carries and was visibly upset on the sideline, yelling aloud. He continues to get hit behind the line of scrimmage regularly, but his coach made it clear that he needs to take it upon himself to adapt as well. “Jay, it’s very rare he will make a mistake with the run reads,” Adam Gase said. “There were a couple times I wish he would take what he can get to get us the first down.” Ajayi faces an even worse run defense this week, as the Titans allow 112 rushing yards per game. Without better blocking, it may not matter again. Ajayi is still a low-end RB1 based on potential, but another disappointing game could kill his value. Ajayi owners should either sell now or ride with him long-term.
