Wendell Smallwood Not Expected to Play in Week 5

Philadelphia Eagles running back Wendell Smallwood (knee) is not expected to play in Week 5. Head coach Doug Pederson said that Smallwood would not be in practice on Friday, making an entire week of pissed practices for the running back. He is officially listed as questionable, but can almost certainly be considered out for Sunday’s game. Even if he does manage to be active for the matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, he won’t play anywhere close to a fantasy-relevant role. In his place, the Eagles backfield will be made up of early down grinder LeGarrette Blount, rookie Corey Clement, and special teamer Kenjon Barner. It’s a backfield to avoid in fantasy this week.
