49ers To Ride Hot Hand At Running Back

This article first appeared on RotoBaller.com

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that running back Carlos Hyde will start games moving forward with rookie Matt Breida coming in after that. The team will then ride the “hot hand” after that. Hyde proved to be a bust in a good matchup against the Colts in Week 5, carrying the ball only eight times for 11 yards. Breida proved to be the hot hand, seeing a team-high 10 carries for 49 yards. Hyde has been nicked up with nagging injuries the past couple weeks, but Shanahan insisted that Hyde’s lack of involvement in the second half wasn’t due to injury. After starting the season out hot, Hyde appears to be falling out of favor a bit, but that could change easily if he starts with a bang in Week 6 against the ‘Skins. Hyde remains an RB2, but his shine is wearing off some. Breida deserves to be added by those searching for more production out of the running back spot. He could have some RB3/flex appeal moving forward.
