Adrian Peterson Will Not Play On Third Downs

This article first appeared on RotoBaller.com

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians has stated that new running back Adrian Peterson will receive minimal third-down work this season. Peterson is expected to take over the majority of first- and second-down work. However, Andre Ellington is expected to continue to receive the majority of third-down work. This makes Ellington an attractive flex option in a pass-heavy offense and promotes him to high-end flex consideration (he has 24 targets in his last two weeks that he’s converted to 18 receptions and 151 yards). Until Peterson proves that his poor performance for New Orleans was a fluke, he should not be started unless fantasy owners have no other options.
