Ty Montgomery A Full Participant in Practice, Status Up in the Air for Sunday

For the second straight day, Green Bay Packers running back Ty Montgomery was a full participant in practice. The Green Bay running back suffered several broken ribs in Week 4 but could return soon if there is confidence that he will not reinjuring himself. Full participation for Thursday’s practice is notable since it is the only Green Bay practice in full pads. Montgomery took some hits and said he felt fine. Despite the hopeful signs, Green Bay may be cautious returning Montgomery to the field. Rookie running back Aaron Jones looked very impressive last week and has reduced the urgency to get Montgomery back out onto the field. If Montgomery plays he will likely have a reduced role due to injury. Even when healthy his role is likely to be reduced on account of Jones, who he will likely split carries with. It has even been speculated that Jones may have usurped the starting spot from Montgomery. If Montgomery suits up he should be viewed as a flex play. Green Bay will be taking on Minnesota, a team that has played well against the run so far this year. He likely will not have a monster game, but will get enough touches to make an impact.
