Curtis Samuel Could Be Facing Serious Injury

This article first appeared on RotoBaller.com

The initial thought was that Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver Curtis Samuel (ankle) suffered a high ankle sprain in Monday night’s victory over the Dolphins, but a team source said the concern now is that it could be worse. Samuel was on crutches after the game and had his left ankle heavily bandaged. Samuel, the team’s second-round pick, had five catches for 45 yards before suffering the injury, and he was expected to become a key contributor down the stretch with Kelvin Benjamin out of the picture. Either way, Samuel will likely miss multiple games. That’ll mean that Russell Shepard and Kaelin Clay should see their roles increase in the near future across from Devin Funchess. Shepard should be your first target in deeper leagues for receiver depth.
