Week 1 fantasy football playbook
Studs, duds, sneaky DFS picks and more for each position (that matters) on your Week 1 fantasy football squad.
Hey folks,
Welcome to the new-look Sunday playbook! I’ve changed things up in a way that I hope provides more value. Let me explain a few things you might have questions on:
Rankings: I’ve included isolated versions of this week’s Half-PPR rankings for the four main positions. If reading in your email, clicking on the image will open the rankings up in a new window. There are also links to the full rankings at the end of each individual chart if you want to view the latest complete rankings.
Best/worst matchups: These are inspired by The Athletic’s Jake Ciely’s matchup rankings, which includes his homemade metric, Adjusted Points Allowed (APA). It takes into account more factors rather than only fantasy points allowed to the position. I include short notes to indicate how the matchup might effect expected performance, but in general, only use these as guidance if you’re having a tough start/sit decision.
DFS values: These charts come courtesy of dailyfantasyfuel.com, and the main metric to look at is “Value,” which is a metric projecting how much return on investment a player will deliver, taking into account the player’s salary. It’s a good way to decide on who is worth paying a high salary for and which bargains are most likely to produce.
Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments and best of luck in Week 1!
